IQ Ideas+ is an advanced platform designed to capture, organize, and manage ideas within an organization. It enables teams to collaborate on ideas, evaluate their potential through customizable criteria, and align innovation efforts with the company’s strategic objectives. By providing AI-powered tools for idea evaluation, feedback, and prioritization, IQ Ideas helps users turn creative concepts into actionable projects.

AI Integration into Existing Workflow
To maintain our existing workflow and user experience, we need to integrate AI features seamlessly into the current UI. The AI functionality should be easy and non-intrusive for users to understand and utilize without disrupting from their workflow.
Generative Assistance Model
The AI feature needs to be of assistance to users while they input ideas. Instead of taking over the process, it is a generative tool for users to aid in their idea formulation, reducing the friction of writing problem statements, solution statements, and invention descriptions.

USER STORY
The Innovation Team Member logs into IQ Ideas+ and creates a project for an idea. To improve the idea, he uses Evaluate a New Idea to get initial feedback and uniqueness score. With the feedback, he collaborates with colleagues and uses Improve a System and Build on an Invention to refine the idea. The manager visualizes and prioritizes ideas based on potential value, resource requirements, and strategic alignment. The top ideas are selected and moved into the development pipeline, with the manager setting up meetings and defining next steps for each project.

USER STORY
The leadership officer logs into IQ Ideas+ to review a high-level overview of the ideas in the pipeline. He uses Solve a Problem to assess how ideas from his innovation team compares to industry trends. Based on AI insights and data visualizations from Custom Charts, the executive team makes informed decisions on which ideas to fund, prioritize, and fast-track for execution. Once ideas are approved, executives monitor key metrics and project milestones through the platform to ensure alignment with business outcomes.

User Maps
The user maps outline the basic requirement for the new AI feature and how users interact with it, visualizing key touchpoints, as well as user goals and motivations.
ITERATIONS
Initial Concepts
We tried multiple different approaches to how the users interact with the new AI assistance feature, figuring out the role how the AI feature plays in the workflow and how much the new functionality can simplify the current workflow.
Versions
Throughout the weeks, we received feedback from product managers and the development team. As we iterate, we created versions each week to make changes and improvements.
FINAL WORKFLOW
AI Chat Components & Behavior
The AI chat responds to any inquiries or requests relating to IP that users have, providing interactive responses that allows users to Bookmark, Regenerate, and even paste to current workflow inputs. Additionally, users can customize the response to be simpler, more technical, and/or other modifiers. The features are documented clearly to communicate with the development team.
THE NEW IQ IDEAS+
CompassAI
Users are introduced with the all new CompassAI beta features right on the landing page, and they are given the option to turn off the AI feature if they wish to.
The Idea Workflow
The IQ Ideas workflow involves lots of upfront user input before feedback is given, which negatively impacts the user experience. With the AI assistance, users will have a much easier time composing problem statements, solution statements, and descriptions.
Ask Away
Users are able to use CompassAI to write and refine problem statements, making it easier and faster for users to get new ideas and feedback.
Iterations
Don’t like the answers? Users are able to tweak the generated responses to better fit their desired results.
Autofill
Users can directly fill the analysis inputs with CompassAI generated content to expedite the analysis process in order to receive ideas and feedback quickly.
Notes
As CompassAI generates feedback and suggestions, users are able to bookmark them to Notes, where they can compile research notes and documentation as they progress in their innovation.
REFLECTIONS
What I learned
Industry Trends
It’s important to stay on top of industry trends in order for our products to stay ahead in the market, even when none of our competitors have. I learned merely doing competitive analysis is not enough to stand out in the market. Instead, observing trends outside of our own IP industry can inspire new innovative features to benefit our users and propel us to lead our sector of the industry, which led to the introduction of CompassAI.
